Discussion and Workshop with Layla Metssitane.
Saturday, June 8th at 10am in 306 Grant Hall - UMKC (5228 Charlotte St, KCMO 64110)
The Alliance Française of Kansas City in conjunction with the UMKC Departments of Theatre and of World Languages and Cultures invite you to a discussion and workshop (in French and English) open to all interested in the theater.
Layla Metssitane is a French actress, author and director of Moroccan origin. In addition to acting and directing she has created several theatrical works utilizing the texts of authors such as Aimé Césaire and Taslima Nasreen. In 2010 she adapted Belgian author Amélie Nothomb’s award-winning novel, Fear and Trembling (Stupeur et Tremblements) into a one-woman show, which, after an extremely successfully run in Paris at the Théâtre de Poche went on international tour throughout Europe, South America and Canada.
For Layla Metssitane, “theater is and will always be the place we meet the best of our own humanity.” Through this discussion and workshop, she invites participants to immerse themselves in the intersection of stage, text, and movement.
The workshop is limited to 22 places.
