10 sessions of in-person classes with Shieva

This is a class for Absolute Beginner's French, level A1.1. We will be working on unit 0 and Module 1 (unites 1 through 3) of the Saison 1 textbook. 

At this level, you will begin to communicate in very familiar contexts with the help of the listener, including the ability to introduce yourself, ask about others, talk about your preferences, actives, hobbies and daily routine and also ask and tell the time. Grammar points include the present tense (high frequency verbs such as être (to be), avoir (to have), venir (to come), vouloir (to want), pouvoir (to be able to), regular verbs ending in -er and simple pronominal verbs). You will be able to talk about the near future and get to know subject pronouns, tonic pronouns, statements and questions, prepositions (à, de) and their contractions, numbers (counting), colors, articles and gender of nouns, vocabulary relative to everyday items and places.

This class is for Intermediate French level A2.1. We will work through materials and topics related to the Module 1 (unites 1 through 3) of the Saison 2 textbook.

10 sessions of in-person classes

This is a class for Beginner's French, level A1.3. We will be working on Module 3 (unites 7 through 9) of the Saison 1 textbook. 

These chapters will help you discuss work and study related subjects. Vocabulary about the body, animals, the weather and the environment will be introduced. The grammar for this level will include more high frequency verbs in the present tense, and more about the past tenses (le passé composé et l'imparfait). Other items include direct and indirect pronouns, relative pronouns as well as an introduction to conditional form of the verb.

Designed for 6-9 year olds, "Les Loustics" is a fun, creative, action-oriented course full of visual and audio documents that reflect the lively world of children and gives them a zest for learning.

The coursebook is easy to use with one page for each lesson and uses a gradual, spiral approach to reinforce learning from one lesson to the next.

Each unit consists of five single-page lessons offering a variety of activities and a glossary. "

Petit Doc" pages use accessible and authentic documents to foster openness to other cultures and disciplines.

The workbook contains one double page of activities per lesson to reinforce learning and gradually introduce writing skills and comes with a CD of songs and poems.

10 sessions of in-person classes with Jean-Louis

During the course of these sessions, you will get a taste of 19^th, 20^th and 21^st century French literature, with an interactive approach.

Jean-Louis will work on excerpts that he has carefully selected from 5 well known novels form this time period.

You will read the excerpts in class and discuss the plot and the main themes of the story. There will also be a short overview of the author’s life and the historic context in which the book has been created.

You will not have to read the entire novel for the class. Well… not unless you want to.

The course will also contain grammatical reminders and cultural vocabulary.

Our objective is to pass on to you our love for the French literature while helping you improve your linguistic skills.
